- Layering Technique with Geosynthetics: Soil-Geosynthetic Composite System
- 研究内容の概要Overview
- This study investigates the layering technique using basalt geosynthetics combined with granular soil layers to improve load distribution, shear strength, and bearing capacity. Different configurations, including single and multiple reinforcement layers, are evaluated. Soil performance is assessed via laboratory testing, including unconfined compression, direct shear, and California bearing ratio measurements. Microstructural analysis is also applied to understand soil-geosynthetic interactions and optimize design parameters.

This work advances Japan's infrastructure resilience by providing practical methods to improve weak soils using geosynthetics, reducing construction risks and long-term maintenance costs. It supports sustainable urban development, informs technical guidelines for soil reinforcement, and contributes to civil engineering education by training engineers and researchers in advanced ground improvement techniques for safe, durable, and efficient construction projects (図1).
